Responsibilites

Each class will have the same responsibilities as they prepare for the video conference. Upholding these responsibilities will be essential to conducting a smooth flowing and meaningful video conference. The responsibilities for each class are outlined below.
  1. Read the book in its entirety.
    1. Each class must commit to reading the whole book. When we meet during the video conference, each class will need to have a complete understanding of the book.
    2. Each class may choose how the book is read. ie. Based on the needs of your students and the resources at your disposal, the book may be read to the class by a teacher, read in small groups, read individually, or any combination of reading methods.
  2. Develop 5 quality questions that require the partner class to respond and support their reactions using ideas and details from the text.
  3. Prepare a brief (<5 min.) presentation depicting details about the setting of the piece of literature.
    1. The format for the presentation is wide open.
    2. Classes may use any materials they wish (models, visual art, music, writing, etc.)
    3. The presentation may contain details about the setting each presented separately or a class may choose to synthesize setting details into one cohesive presentation.
  4. Prepare a brief (<5 min.) presentation on a "Mystery Character" from the piece of literature.
    1. The presentation may only include characteristics about the character. DON'T GIVE AWAY WHO THE CHARACTER IS!
    2. Your partner class is going to have to guess which character you have chosen to share.
    3. Your clues should use details from the text that the author uses to teach you about what type of person your character is.
  5. Prepare a brief (<10 min.) skit depicting a conflict that can be found in the piece of literature.
    1. Your skit can come directly from a scene in the book, or you can recreate the conflict by creating a scenario of your own. As long as the conflict exists in the piece of literature. ie. The three little pigs need to stay safe from the wolf - Pigs vs. Wolf. You could perform a skit with three pigs who build homes to stay safe from the wolf or you could write your own scenario that contains a unique set of characters attempting to stay safe from another character.
